Had my 1 week check-up.... a week late - it was the earliest I could get an appointment I could make. A bit of a non-event - I was in and out in barely 5 minutes. Read the same eye chart as for 1-day check up, but managed the line I faltered on and the line below, which meant I have "better than 20/20 vision"! Left eye is not quite as good as the right but that's got to be a great result. I don't need to go back again until my 6 month check-up.
Was able to have a shower and wash my hair today without trying to avoid getting water in my eyes. Hooray! And now I've been able to dispense with the night-time eye-shields. Hooray! Went all day without needing the artificial tears for the first time today. I've still got the halo effect and starbursts around bright lights at night, but that seems to be starting to fade - I'm told that will take a couple of months.
So now all I need to do is to remember to have the eye drops with me in case I need them (err... managed to forget to take them on our family trip to Dunwich Heath this morning) and to remember to take my reading glasses off after I've been doing some close-up work - that still feels weird!
All in all - Lovely job!

Eye Surgery - One Week On
It's official - here is my lifetime guarantee...
I stopped having to take the anti-biotic and anti-inflammatory drops today. I'm slowly getting used to only needing glasses for reading. One thing that has surprised me, though - my close-up vision seems to be worse than it was before with glasses - not a huge amount, but significant. I can't use the computer without my reading glasses now.
And, of course, I can't use the trick I used to of taking my glasses off to see things close-up - I'm not short-sighted any more!
On Monday I was back at work, but working from home. I found I had to take breaks from using the computer regularly and my eyes were quite tired by the end of the day - especially as I had to drive to The Barn in the evening. Yes, I got a starburst effect around all the vehicle and street lights, but I could still see the road and signs fine so driving was OK.
Tuesday I was back in the office. Predictably, the first thing I got as I walked in was, "How many fingers am I holding up?". I show off my new eyesight to our management team's PA. "Staples. The Office Superstore" I read from a sign in the distance. She is amazed.
My team rather like my wraparound shades. I think it could become part of our uniform. "I think you should get a monocle for reading", says Rob. "I don't know why I need to use these artificial tears when I have to work with you lot", I reply.

Eye Laser Surgery - After 48 hours
I open the living room curtains. "Hmm. My distance vision seems to be hazier today". But I needn't have worried. I look again and realise it's not my vision, but the weather - it was misty!
Drive the car for the first time as I take the kids to Nowton Park for a walk. It's a lovely day, but cold. Glad I have my shades - the eyes don't like the cold air much. "Keep on blinking", I remind myself.
