Spiced Chickpea Snack

One hobby that hasn't featured in the blog so far is cooking. Maybe it's because I've been trying to cut down on eating. But there's one recipe I discovered only recently that just can't remain uneaten.

It comes from The Moroccan Collection, available in paperback since 2002, which has lots of tasty recipes. This is one we keep coming back to (encouraged, perhaps, by the 3 for £1 offer at Sainsbury's on tins of chickpeas), any time we have the oven on for something else.

It is really simple. Just drain your tin of chickpeas and mix them with a couple of tablespoons of olive oil and a couple of crushed cloves of garlic. Tip them onto a baking sheet, sprinkle with coarse sea salt and cook for about 15-20 minutes in a pre-heated oven at 200°C.

Tip them onto kitchen paper to absorb the oil if you want (I don't bother) and then sprinkle with paprika and ground cumin while still warm. Yummy. The missus reckons they would sell really well if commercially available.

Yes, there don't seem to be many chickpeas in the bowl the picture, but that was all that was left the next day after the last batch.

OK, I confess - right after the photo was taken!
